How Schindler Group chose Sodales and SAP App Center for their safety solutions

BY IAN LIVENGOOD

A billion people each day, in more than 140 countries, use the escalators, walkways and elevators manufactured by the Swiss-based Schindler Group. Founded in 1874, and now with over 1,000 branch offices, production sites and R&D facilities in North America, South America, Asia and Europe, the company is uniquely motivated to put the safety of its employees and customers at the center of business operations.

“Safety is a top priority at Schindler,” said Louis DeLoreto, corporate vice president of Schindler Corp Safety and Health, Schindler Group. “ We needed a safety solution that could meet the specific needs of our business, but that was also simple to use – helping us streamline safety processes, improve safety behavior, and reduce incidents at our sites around the world.”

So, in an effort to create holistic safety policies and processes across global operations, the company searched for a centralized health and safety management solution to both nurture a culture of behavior-based safety and help identify potential problems before they happen. Schindler’s search led to Sodales Solutions on SAP App Center.

Already using the SAP SuccessFactors Learning solution, Schindler chose the Employee Health & Safety Environment Management app from Sodales Solutions, built on SAP Cloud Platform. The app helps manage health and safety requirements, such as site management and audits, corrective actions and reporting, and disability claims. In just a matter of weeks, the solution was deployed around the globe with success and ease.

Features and benefits include the following:

  • Integrations with S/4HANA and SAP SuccessFactors

  • Enhanced workplace safety

  • Role-based modules and functions

  • Supports for multiple languages and countries

  • Ability to track safety KPIs

  • Configurable health and safety forms

“The Employee Health & Safety app, combined with SAP SuccessFactors Learning solution, SAP Cloud Platform, and analytics solutions from SAP, support behavior-based safety and predictive incident prevention,” added Louis DeLoreto.

Schindler and Sodales Solutions have a winning partnership. Sodales is a Toronto-based software company focused on cloud extensions for regulated industries, including labor and health. Sodales is also a 2018 SAP Pinnacle Award Winner in the SAP ISV Partner of the Year – Technology Innovation category. The SAP Pinnacle Awards recognize SAP partners for their outstanding contributions, dedication to teamwork, and ability to challenge what is possible to help customers achieve their goals.

So far, Sodales has helped Schindler achieve the following:

  • Real-time access to health and safety information, allowing managers to instantly identify gaps in training and potential equipment and site issues

  • Increased operational efficiency, thanks to better training and streamlined safety management processes

  • Greater employee well-being by maximizing safety in the workplace

  • Higher customer satisfaction by streamlining site audits, inspections, and site observations

The Sodales health app, combined with learning tools and powerful cloud-based analytics solutions from SAP, make it possible for Schindler to streamline and standardize safety management while keeping ahead of safety issues across the enterprise. The result is a better-prepared workforce, a safer workplace, and continued smooth rides up, down and across for people all over the world.
